Drogsler Nets 28 Points in Home Opening Win against Nyack

CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball junior Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, NY) netted 28 points to lead the Cougars to a 88-47 victory against Nyack College in  Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
 
Caldwell wins their home opener for a third straight season as they improve to 4-1 and 2-0 in conference play. The Warriors fall to 1-4 and 0-1 in the CACC.
 
The Cougars scored on their opening possession as they never trailed in the contest. Drogsler netted nine points in the opening quarter as Caldwell built a 15-6 lead.
 
Junior Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) added seven points in the second quarter as Caldwell pushed their lead into double digits. Drogsler added a triple and bucket with under a minute to play to give the Cougars a 37-19 lead at the break.
 
Caldwell pulled away in the third quarter as they outscored Nyack 30-14 to stretch their lead to 34 points after three quarters. Drogsler chipped in nine points in the quarter as the Cougars coasted to the final buzzer.
 
Drogsler turned in her fifth 20-point effort in five games to start the season. She shot 11-for-15 from the field and 4-for-7 from downtown, finishing with 28 points and two steals. Sanders contributed 14 points four rebounds and six assists.
 
The Cougars are off for the Thanksgiving break as they return to the court on Sunday, November 27 with a non-conference clash against Adelphi University at 1 pm at the Newman Center.
