The Week AheadThe Caldwell University men's basketball team returns to conference play this week with a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Cougars host Dominican College on Wednesday, January 20 at 8 pm and travel to Georgian Court University on Saturday, January 23 at 3 pm.

For 33 years, George worked the scoreboard for Head Coach Mark Corino coached teams at Bloomfield College and at Caldwell. Starting in 1966, "Mister Z" taught history in the Belleville school system for 47 years helping to shape the lives of thousands of students including current Caldwell women's soccer Head Coach
Nate Guagliardi and Coach Corino. He was also the baseball coach at Bellville High School and the field there is named in his honor. A huge sports fan and longtime part of Caldwell basketball, George will be greatly missed by all. All proceeds from Wednesday's doubleheader will go towards the Zanfini Scholarship Fund.
Scouting the Cougars (5-11, 3-6 CACC)The Cougars fell to Philadelphia University 66-61 last Monday night. Seniors
Billy McDonald (North Haven, CT) and
Dawan Lighty (Paterson, NJ) each tallied 19 points in the loss, while McDonald grabbed six rebounds. Lighty leads the Cougars this season with 16.1 points per game along with 3.3 rebounds. He has connected on 35 triples this season and is shooting 85.9% from the free throw line. McDonald is second in scoring at 13.9 points per contest and leads the team with 5.3 boards. Senior
Salvatore Vitello (Bridgewater, NJ) is averaging 7.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals this season. Senior
Brian Kenny (Howell, NJ) is contributing 7.8 points and 4.2 rebounds for the Cougars.
Scouting the Chargers (5-12, 4-4 CACC)The Chargers enter the week coming off a 63-50 loss to USciences last Tuesday. Gerrel Irvin leads Dominican with 10.1 points per game and 4.9 rebounds. Sayon Charles is second in scoring at 9.1 points along with 4.1 boards per contest. Travis Cook is chipping in 8.0 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, while Joe Clinton is contributing 7.7 points and 3.9 assists per contest.
Scouting the Lions (2-14, 1-8 CACC)The Lions enter this week on a nine-game losing streak, including falling to Felician University 63-55 last Tuesday. Keith Hughes leads the team with 13.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Juwuan Carter is second in scoring at 12.6 points along with 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists this season. Nikola Vujovic is chipping in 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while Michael Pierre is averaging 10.3 points and 2.3 rebounds. Pierre leads the Lions with 23 three-pointers this season.
CACC Round UpLighty ranks tenth in the CACC in scoring and currently leads the conference in free throw percentage. He also ranks ninth in the conference in three-pointers. Vitello is eighth in the CACC in steals and 11th in assists, while McDonald is 11th in field goal percentage.
