Women’s Volleyball Opens Home Schedule with Three Matches This Week

The Week Ahead
The Caldwell University Volleyball team opens their home slate this week with a trio of matches. The Cougars open up their 2015 home schedule as they host CACC rival Dominican College on Wednesday Sept 23 at 7:00 pm. The Cougars end the week with a pair of home matches on Saturday September 26. Caldwell faces a CACC match-up against Georgian Court University at 4:30 pm, followed by a non-conference match against Queens College at 6:30 pm.

Scouting the Cougars
The Cougars enter the week with a record of 8-4 (1-1 CACC). The Cougars had a successful week last week going 3-1 and opening conference play by splitting matches against Post University and Philadelphia University. Sophomore Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) leads the team with 154 kills and 404 total blocks. Sophomore Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, HI) is chipping in 115 kills along with 102 digs. Sophomore Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX) is averaging 5.72 assists, while sophomore Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) leads the team with 4.9 digs per set.

Scouting the Chargers
The Chargers enter the week with a record of 1-12 (1-1 CACC). The Chargers won their first match last week against Nyack College also giving the Chargers their first win in the conference. Kera Dexter leads the Chargers in points with 101.5, in kills with 91, and has a kills per set average of 2.17 and a points per set average of 2.4. Dexter is ranked number 14 in the conference with 91 kills.

Scouting the Lions
The Lions enter the week with a record of 6-6 (2-0 CACC). The Lions opened up conference play last week with two conference matches against Holy Family University and Nyack College and won both matches three sets to none. Peggy Rosario leads the team in kills with 89 and 2.12 kills per set. Rosario is also ranked in the top-16 in the conference with 89 kills.

Scouting the Knights
The Knights enter the week with a record of 3-5. The Knights dropped to only match to Stonehill College last week three sets to one. Tori Bowser leads the team with 88.5 points and 73 kills. Arielle DiCocco leads to the team in points per set with 3.4.

CACC Roundup
Janssen is ranked second in the conference in kills with 154. Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) is ranked second in the conference in digs with 235.

Next Up for the Cougars
The Cougars will open the week next with a home match against Concordia College on Tuesday Sept 29 at 7:00 pm which will end the September portion of the 2015 schedule.
