Men’s Basketball Returns Wraps Up 2015 Slate with Two Non-Conference Games

The Week Ahead
The Caldwell University men's basketball team wraps up their 2015 portion of their schedule with a pair of non-conference games this week. The Cougars host nationally ranked Southern Connecticut St. University on Thursday, December 17 at 8 pm and travel to Le Moyne College on Saturday, December 19 for a 2 pm game.

Scouting the Cougars
The Cougars enter this week with a 4-6 overall record and 2-3 in the CACC. Caldwell fell to Post University last Tuesday night and defeated Felician University on Saturday. Senior Dawan Lighty (Paterson, NJ) leads the team with 18.4 points per game, while draining a team-best 27 triples this season. Senior Billy McDonald (North Haven, CT) is second in scoring with 11.6 points per contest, while chipping in 4.6 rebounds on the year. Senior Salvatore Vitello (Bridgewater, NJ) is averaging 8.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists, while senior Brian Kenny (Howell, NJ) is contributing 8.2 points and 5.0 rebounds this season.  
 
Scouting the Owls
The Owls enters the week at #20 in the NABC National Poll and come into Thursday's game with a record of 8-2 and 4-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Southern Connecticut went 2-1 last week as they fell to Holy Family University and defeated Saint Michael's College and Pace University. The Owls are led by Michael Mallory who is averaging 22.2 points per game along with 4.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists. Desmond Williams is chipping in 19.9 points, while averaging team-highs with 9.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Isaiah McLeod is averaging 9.5 points, while Austin Carter is posting 8.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
 
Scouting the Dolphins
The Dolphins come into Saturday's contest with a 4-5 record and 3-2 record in the NE-10. Le Moyne won their lone game last week as they defeated American International College 86-69. Tyguan Rolon leads the Dolphins with 17 points and 5.4 rebounds along with 21 triples. Qwadere Lovell is chipping in 13.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and three assists per game. Tanner Hyland is posting 11.9 points, 3.1 boards and 20 three-pointers.  
 
CACC Round Up
Lighty moved up to third in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in scoring and is tied for fourth in three-pointers. He is also third in free throw percentage at 88.2% and ninth in three-point percentage at 41.5%. Vitello is ninth in the conference in assists.
 
Next Up for the Cougars
Following the holiday break, the Cougars return to CACC play as they travel to Bloomfield College on Sunday, January 3 at 3 pm.
