WATERBURY, Conn.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team came up short to Philadelphia University in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship game by a score of 1-0.
The Cougars end their season at 11-9-1, while the Rams improve to 10-8-2 and clinch the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
The teams played a defensive battle for 90 minutes as both squads finished with 11 shots in the game with the Cougars holding the edge in shots on goal 7-6. Caldwell also had the advantage in corner kick 6-4.
The lone goal in the game came at the 41:55 mark of the first half as the Rams were awarded a penalty kick. Philadelphia's Carla Chmielewski converted the penalty kick to give the Rams a 1-0 lead in the opening half. Caldwell pressed their offense in the second half as the #5 seed Cougars saw their season end.

Mary Kanzler (East Northport, NY) turned in another solid effort as she finished with five saves in the contest.
Seniors Kelly Folk (Jackson, NJ) and Ashley King (Little Egg Harbor, NJ) along with freshman Emily Valerian (Roseland, NJ) were named to the CACC Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team.
