CHICAGO, Il.- The Caldwell University men's basketball wrapped up exhibition play as they squared off against Division I DePaul University on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Demons took an early lead and defeated the Cougars by a score of 82-52.
DePaul drained an early three-pointer but senior
Billy McDonald (North Haven, CT) hit a pair of free throws to slice the score to one point. The Blue Demons pushed ahead by six but McDonald knocked down a trifecta to keep the score close early in the game.
The Cougars were led by senior
Dawan Lighty (Paterson, NJ) who dropped in 13 points on 3-for-6 from downtown. McDonald finished with seven points and five rebounds, while
Ned Ogoemesim (Westhampton, NJ) added six points and two assists.
Sophomore
Bernard Brantley (Stratford, CT) chipped in seven points, while senior
Salvatore Vitello (Bridgewater, NJ) finished with five points, three assists and three boards.
Caldwell opens their 2015-16 season next weekend at the Northeast-10/CACC Challenge hosted by Bentley University. The Cougars take on the Merrimack College on Friday, November 13 at 6 pm and play host Bentley on Saturday, November 14 at 8 pm.
