WALTHAM, Mass.- Senior
Dawan Lighty (Paterson, NJ) scored 21 points to lead the Caldwell University men's basketball team but the Cougars fell to the Bentley University Falcons 80-63 to wrap up the CACC/NE-10 Challenge Weekend.
The Cougars fall to 0-2 overall, while the Falcons improve to 2-0 in 2015-16.
Bentley jumped out to an early lead as they led 18-12 with 13:30 left in the first half. Caldwell went on a 13-4 run as Light drained a pair of three's, while freshman
Ahmad Harrison (Newark, NJ) added one from downtown. Freshman
Thomas Elliott-Smith (Plymouth, England) capped the run with a bucket at the 7:30 mark to put the Cougars up 25-22.
The Falcons scored the next six points to retake the lead as they closed the half on a 19-5 run to take a 41-30 lead at halftime. Bentley maintained their double digit lead into the second half as they held off the Cougars to remain unbeaten.
For the Cougars, Lighty led the way with 21 points on 4-for-8 shooting from downtown while senior
Billy McDonald (North Haven, CT) chipped in 11 points and three rebounds. Senior
Brian Kenny (Howell, NJ) finished with 12 points and five boards.
The Cougars open up their home schedule on Tuesday, November 17 as they host NYIT at 5 pm in a non-conference game. Â
