Hartmann Tallies Eight Saves As Men’s Soccer Ends Season with Win

CALDWELL, N.J.- Senior goalie Michael Hartmann (Medford, N.J.) capped off his collegiate career with eight saves to help lead the Caldwell University men's soccer team to a 4-3 victory against the Georgian Court Lions in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.

The Cougars end their season at 5-12-1 and 4-7-1 in CACC play, while the Lions finish 2015 at 7-8-2 and 4-6-2 in conference play.

Caldwell jumped in from early as senior Noah Pederson (San Jose, CA) put the Cougars in front with a goal tenth minute of play. Sophomore Sam Odell (Surrey, England) added a goal off an assist from Pederson to extend the Caldwell lead to 2-0 in the 29th minute of play.

Georgian Court answered in the 35th minute with a goal to cut the score to 2-1 but the Cougars added a score late in the first half. Freshman Italo Cardoso (Monroe, NJ) found the back of the next off an assist from freshman Tom Yorston (Northamptonshire, UK) to give Caldwell a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.

The Lions rallied back in the second half as they netted a goal in the 52nd minute and found the equalizer in the 75th minute. Freshman Joaquin Escudero (San Sebastian, Spain) put the Cougars in front to stay as he netted the game-winner in the 79th minute to lift Caldwell to the victory.

In his final collegiate game, Hartmann went out a winner, as he recorded eight saves in the victory.
