Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to Post

CALDWELL, N.J.- Sophomore Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, HI) tallied a match-high 19 kills but the Caldwell University volleyball team lost 3-2 to the Post University Eagles in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.

The Cougars fall to 16-9 overall and 8-4 in the CACC, while the Eagles advance to 16-8 and 9-3 in conference play.

The Cougars got off to a positive start as they took the opening set 25-20. The Eagles won the next two sets, 25-18 and 25-23. Caldwell rallied back take set four 26-24 but Post closed out the match with a 15-12 win in the deciding set.

Auyong added 17 digs and two blocks, while sophomore Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) totaled 13 kills and five blocks. Senior Kelsey Blankerts (Sylvania, OH) chipped in nine kills and five blocks, while senior Rachael DiLeonardo (Milton, GA) posted seven kills and 22 digs. Sophomore Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, IL) led the Cougars with 31 digs along with three aces and four assists, while sophomore Julia Cummings (Palm Harbor, FL) led the team with six total blocks. Sophomore Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX) recorded 25 assists and 14 digs, while freshman Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, CO) finished with 27 assists and 11 digs.

Caldwell hosts Wilmington University on Saturday, October 24 at 4:30 pm at the Newman Center.
