Cougar Volleyball Sweeps Franklin Pierce

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Caldwell University volleyball team completed play at the Georgian Court Tournament with a three-set sweep of Franklin Pierce University Sunday afternoon at the GCU Wellness Center. The Cougars won the match by the scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-15 to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Senior outside hitter Erica Harrell (Richardson, TX/Plano East) led the way with 11 kills while hitting .435. Senior Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica Catholic) added nine kills and seven assists, and freshman setter Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX/Johnson) tallied 15 assists. As a team, Caldwell was especially efficient in the second set, recording 13 kills without an error in 30 attempts for a .433 hitting percentage. The defense limited the Ravens (2-2) to a .105 hitting percentage, with senior libero Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) registering 17 digs and freshman Narae Wadsworth (Reno, NV/Wooster) had three blocks.

The Cougars open the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 10 against Felician College. The home match starts at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
