Franklin Pierce Tops Cougars in Women’s Soccer

RINDGE, N.H. – The Caldwell University women's soccer team lost to the host Ravens, 4-0 at the Franklin Pierce University Tournament Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field. The Cougars drop to 0-2 on the season, while Franklin Pierce remains unbeaten at 2-0. The game was halted in the 73rd minute due to inclement weather.

The tone was set early, as the Ravens' Talita Pereira scored just 50 seconds into the game. Nalina Valaydon made it 2-0 with a goal in the 13th minute. Then in the second half, Makayla Medeiros set up Madison Finlay's tally in the 58th minute before scoring in the 69th minute for a 4-0 lead. Franklin Pierce built a 15-6 advantage in shots for the game.

Senior goalkeeper Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) registered two saves in goal for the Cougars, while Casey Cook made three saves for the shutout.

Caldwell opens Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Post University. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
