Box Score VERONA, N.J. – The Caldwell College women's lacrosse team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to visiting Chestnut Hill College, 16-6 Wednesday afternoon at Centennial Field. The Cougars, who are competing in their inaugural season, are now 0-5, while the Griffins improve to 1-9, 1-3 CACC.
Chestnut Hill took control of the game with nine first-half goals compared to two for Caldwell. Freshman midfielder
Kirsten Whitt (Lawrenceville, GA/Mountain View) scored at the 17:46 mark, while freshman midfielder Courtney Donlon (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) tallied the final goal of the first half. The Cougars picked up the pace in the second half, scoring four of the first seven goals of the period to make the score 12-6. Freshman midfielder Christina Gonzalez (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) scored two of the goals, while Whitt and Donlon also scored for Caldwell. But the Griffins tallied the final four goals of the game to earn their first victory of the season.
Whitt added an assist and had five ground balls, while senior defender
Sarah Royse (Danvers, MA/Northern Valley) notched three draw controls. Freshman goalie
Adria Ostafi (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) recorded 13 saves in 60 minutes for Caldwell, while Katie Joe Lang had 11 saves for Chestnut Hill. Lea Sanders led all players with six goals.
Caldwell takes on Holy Family University in a CACC game on Saturday, Apr. 5 at 12:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
