Box Score NYACK, N.Y. – The Caldwell College women's lacrosse team lost to Nyack College, 12-6 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Wednesday afternoon at Mosley Field. The Cougars are now 0-11 overall and in the conference, while the Warriors improve to 3-12, 2-9 CACC.
Nyack scored the first two goals of the game in building an 8-2 lead in the first half. Freshmen
Christina Gonzalez (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) and
Kaitlyn Coghlan (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa Acad.) tallied goals for Caldwell. Then in the second half, the Cougars out-scored the Warriors 4-2 over the first 18 minutes of the period to pull within four, 10-6. Gonzalez found the net twice, while freshmen
Kirsten Whitt (Lawrenceville, GA/Mountain View) and
Victoria Grzelak (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) also scored during that stretch. But Nyack kept Caldwell from scoring the rest of the way while scoring twice to close out the victory.
Along with her three goals, Gonzalez added four ground balls and four caused turnovers. Senior
Sarah Royse (Danvers, MA/Northern Valley) notched three draw controls, while freshman
Miranda Harrington (Neptune, NJ/St. Rose) had three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Freshman goalie
Adria Ostafi (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) made six saves in goal for Caldwell. Lauren Lebo, who scored 12 goals in a win over Caldwell on Monday, was held to three goals for Nyack on Wednesday.
The Cougars finish their inaugural season on Tuesday, Apr. 22 at Dominican College. The CACC game starts at 4:15 p.m. in Orangeburg, N.Y.
