CALDWELL, N.J. – In her final regular-season home game, senior forward
Jeanette Anderson (Lynn, MA/Lynn English) registered 24 points, 19 rebounds and four steals, as the Caldwell College women's basketball beat Wilmington, 88-60 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at the George R. Newman Center. The win is the fourth in row for the Cougars, who are now 15-10 overall and 13-5 in league play. The Wildcats complete their season at 8-18, 4-15 CACC.
Caldwell led for most of the game, leading by as many as 17 points before taking a 37-21 advantage at halftime. The Cougars limited Wilmington to 27.3 percent shooting from the field in the first half while making 45.7 percent from the floor. Freshman forward
Alyssa James (Rosedale, NY/St. Mary's) tallied nine points and seven boards, as Caldwell held a 27-18 edge on the glass.
The Wildcats were able to come within 12 points in the second half, trailing 41-29 with 16:53 remaining. But seven points from Anderson sparked a 9-0 run to put Caldwell ahead, 50-29 at the 14:41 mark. Wilmington never came closer than 18 points the rest of the way, as the Cougars cruised to their fourth straight victory. Caldwell shot 52.0 percent from the field in the second half and garnered a 56-33 rebounding advantage for the game.
The game also was the final regular-season home contest for senior guard
Marielle Duryea (Middle Village, NY/Archbishop Molloy), who tallied nine points, five rebounds and five assists. Anderson's performance marks the 14th double-double of the season and the 50th of her outstanding career. Junior forward
Emily Caswell (Wakefield, RI/Prout School) added 17 points and seven rebounds, while James finished with 10 points, 11 boards and five blocks. Jasmine Lee led Wilmington with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Caldwell completes the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 25 with a home game at Bloomfield College. Tip-off is at 6:00 p.m. in Bloomfield, N.J.
