PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Caldwell University women's basketball team suffered a non-conference loss to Pace University, 80-69 Sunday afternoon at the Goldstein Fitness Center. The result drops the Cougars to 5-5 on the season, while the Setters improve to 4-6.
Caldwell led early and held a 14-10 advantage before Pace used a 21-7 run to take control of the game and lead 31-21 with 2:44 left in the first half. The Setters eventually took a 37-27 halftime edge after shooting 55.6 percent from the field compared to 33.3 percent for the Cougars. Emily Caswell (Wakefield, RI/Prout School) scored 11 for Caldwell.
Momentum stayed with the hosts into the second half, as Pace reeled off a 16-6 spree over the first 4:34 to lead 53-33. The lead grew to as many as 22 before the Cougars closed out the game with a 21-10 run, sparked by nine points from freshman forward

Caswell led Caldwell with 28 points and eight rebounds for her sixth game with at least 20 points this season. Freshman guard
Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, MA/St. Mary's) contributed 11 points, three assists and two steals. Four Setters scored in double figures, led by Margo Hackett with 19 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.
The Cougars host American International in another non-league contest on Monday, Dec. 15, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
