WALLINGFORD, Conn. – The Caldwell University bowling team competed in the first of three Northeast Conference meets, held at Wallingford Bowl on Saturday and Sunday. The Cougars (2-19), faced four NEC opponents on Saturday and finished with three matches on Sunday.
The highlight of the first day was freshman
Daniele Roca (Garden City Park, NY/New Hyde Park Mem.) bowling a 192 in Caldwell's third match, a loss to Kutztown. Freshman
Vanessa Mantione (Matawan, NJ/Bishop Ahr) also bowled well against Kutztown, turning in a 181. Freshman
Kellie Ehrmann (Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) was the Cougars' top bowler with a 169 in a defeat to St. Francis of Brooklyn in the day's final match. On Sunday, Roca bowled a season-high 201 against St. Francis of Pennsylvania.
Roca ended up averaging 168.0 over the seven matches, followed by Ehrmann at 142.7 and Mantione at 138.9. Also competing for the Cougars were freshmen
Deborah Andrews (Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold),
Natalie Pedri (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) and
Amanda Shea (Paramus, NJ/Paramus Catholic).
Caldwell will compete in the second of three NEC meets on Dec. 6-7 in Elmwood Park, N.J.
