NYACK, N.Y. – The Caldwell University volleyball team swept Nyack College, 25-15, 25-10, 25-8 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Friday night at Bowman Gym. With the win, the Cougars improve to 11-7 overall and 6-2 in league play, while the Warriors fall to 1-21, 1-9 CACC.
Caldwell dominated on both sides of the net, hitting .296 for the match while limiting Nyack to .090. Freshman middle blocker
Narae Wadsworth (Reno, NV/Wooster) racked up 11 kills without an error in 17 attempts for a .647 hitting percentage. She also added three blocks. Freshman outside hitter
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha) contributed eight kills, seven digs and three blocks while hitting .318. Senior
Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica) recorded 10 assists and 14 digs, while freshman setter
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, TX/Johnson) had 12 assists and nine digs. Senior libero
Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) helped the Cougar defense with 27 digs to go with two service aces.
Caldwell hosts Chestnut Hill College in a CACC match on Saturday, Oct. 11, beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
