CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College volleyball team earned its fourth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference sweep of the season with a 3-0 victory over Goldey-Beacom College Saturday afternoon in the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars, who improve to 8-7 overall and 5-0 in the conference, won by scores of 25-9, 25-10, 25-12. The Lightning is now 4-7 overall, 0-3 CACC.
Caldwell cruised to the win in the first set, hitting .526 with 13 kills and three errors in 19 attempts. Junior outside hitters
Erica Harrell (Richardson, TX/Plano East) and
Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica) led the way with three kills apiece. The second set was more of the same, with freshman outside hitter
Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) recording six of the Cougars' 11 kills in a 25-10 win. Zaeske then put away four kills in the third set to help wrap up the match.
Caldwell held Goldey-Beacom to a -.112 hitting percentage, with junior libero
Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) recording 15 digs and Nestoras notching 14 digs to go with six kills. Zaeske led the attack with 12 kills and a .435 hitting percentage, while freshman setter
Rachel Carpenter (Newark, OH/Newark) delivered 25 assists and seven digs.
Caldwell hosts Nyack College on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in a CACC North Division match-up. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Newman Center.
