ALBANY, N.Y. – The Caldwell College volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to the College of St. Rose, 30-28, 25-19, 28-18 Saturday evening at Nolan Gymnasium. The Cougars fall to 5-7 on the season with the loss, while the Golden Knights improve to 6-1.

In the first set, Caldwell fought off three set points at 24-21 to tie the score at 24-24. The Cougars battled to take a 27-26 lead to move one point from taking the set. But St. Rose tallied four of the next five points to win the set.  The Golden Knights held the lead throughout the second and third sets to wrap up the win.

Freshman outside hitter Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) led Caldwell with 10 kills, while junior outside hitter Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica Catholic) notched seven kills to go with 12 digs. Freshman setter Rachel Carpenter (Newark, OH/Newark) dished out 22 assists and recorded nine digs, and junior libero Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) had 14 digs.

The Cougars host Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference on Wednesday, Sept. 25, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
