LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Caldwell College women's soccer team played Felician College to a 1-1 draw in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The Cougars are now 2-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in league play, while the Golden Falcons are 1-2-1, 0-1-1 CACC.

Caldwell jumped out to an early lead just six minutes into the game. A corner kick by senior midfielder Carissa Strye (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) was one-timed into the goal by junior defender Lauren Iuliucci (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea) for a 1-0 lead. It was Iuliucci's second goal of the year. Felician had a golden opportunity to tie the game in the 23rd minute when a penalty kick was awarded. Junior goalkeeper Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) made the initial save on the penalty kick, then stopped a shot off the rebound to preserve the one-goal lead.

The lead didn't last for more than four minutes into the second half, as the Golden Falcons earned yet another penalty kick in the 49th minute. This time JoJo Pisani converted the penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1. Neither team was able to score over the final 41 minutes of regulation or through two 10-minute overtime periods, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Franchi ended up with six saves for the Cougars, while Julia Sheridan made seven saves for the Golden Falcons.

The Cougars host Philadelphia University in a CACC match-up on Saturday, Sept. 21 as a part of Caldwell College's Homecoming Weekend festivities. The game starts at 12:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
