CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Concordia College in three sets, 25-14, 25-23, 25-20 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The win came in the first home match of the season for the Cougars, who are now 5-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Clippers fall to 0-2 overall and in the CACC.
Caldwell cruised to a 25-14 win in the first set, with junior outside hitter
Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica) recording four kills without an error. The second set was a different story, as Concordia held the lead and built a 22-15 advantage. But the Cougars tallied the next eight points on six Clipper miscues and kills from freshmen
Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) and
Taylor Kovach (Oregon, OH/Clay) to lead 23-22. After a Caldwell hitting error, Zaeske notched a pair of kills to clinch the set. Zaeske registered seven kills in the set
The Cougars maintained control in the third set, eventually taking a 23-16 advantage. Concordia made it interesting, pulling within 23-18 and 24-20, but Zaeske closed out the match with her 16th kill for the win.
Zaeske, who was named the CACC Rookie of the Week on Monday, hit .312 en route to her match-high 16 kills. Nestoras had 10 kills with one error for a hitting percentage of .375, while Kovach contributed seven kills. Senior setter

Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) had 13 digs. Leina Braga led Concordia with nine kills and 13 digs.
Caldwell faces Molloy College in a non-league match on Thursday, Sept. 19. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
