RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Felician College, 25-19, 25-20, 25-7 in the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match of the season Thursday evening at Job Gymnasium. The win gives the Cougars a 3-2 record on the season, while the Golden Falcons fall to 0-2, 0-1 CACC.

In the first set, Caldwell held a narrow 20-18 lead before scoring five of the final six points to take a 1-0 advantage. Junior outside hitter Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica Catholic) led the way with six kills and no errors in 10 attempts. Felician also kept the second set close, taking a 19-18 lead. But with Nestoras serving, the Cougars reeled off the next five points, including two service aces, en route to a 25-20 win. Freshman outside hitter Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) notched six kills in the second set. Caldwell cruised in the third set, reeling off 12 straight points with junior libero Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) serving.

Zaeske registered four kills in the run and eight kills in the final set to finish with a team-high 14 kills and a .435 hitting percentage. Nestoras contributed 13 kills, while senior setter Lisa Roth (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) had 17 assists and 11 digs. Defensively, Del Cid recorded 17 digs and senior middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) had three blocks. Olivia Emerson led Felician with nine kills.

The Cougars compete in the Pace Tournament this weekend, beginning with matches against Dowling College and the host Setters on Friday, Sept. 13 in Pleasantville, N.Y.
