CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Holy Family University, 25-20, 25-19, 25-22 in the quarterfinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Tuesday night in the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars improve to 19-11 on the season and advance to the CACC semifinals for the fifth time in the last six years.
Caldwell used four kills from freshman outside hitter
Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) and three from senior middle blocker
Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) to win the first set, 25-20. Zaeske put away six of the Cougars' 11 kills in the second set, as Caldwell cruised to a 25-19 victory.
In the third set, the Cougars led 22-18 and appeared to be in control before the Tigers scored four straight points, including three kills from Emma Herring, to tie the score at 22-22. After a timeout, junior outside hitter
Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica) delivered two consecutive kills, and freshman setter
Rachel Carpenter (Newark, OH/Newark) followed with a service ace to close out the sweep.
Zaeske led Caldwell with 14 kills and a .343 hitting percentage, while Nestoras had 10 kills and hit .320. Bausch added seven kills in her final home game as a Cougar, while Carpenter finished with 35 assists and nine digs. Defensively, junior libero

Susan Harrell (Richardson, TX/Plano East) tallied 14 and 10 digs, respectively. Herring paced Holy Family (15-15) with 14 kills and 14 digs.
The Cougars, seeded first in the North, will face Philadelphia University, seeded second in the South, in the semifinals of the CACC Tournament on Friday, Nov. 15. Philadelphia edged Dominican College in five sets. The match starts at 3:30 p.m. at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.
