BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Concordia College, 25-9, 25-10, 25-20 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Friday night at the Meyer Athletic Center. The Cougars are now 16-10 overall and 13-3 in the conference, while the Clippers drop to 3-14 overall and in the CACC.
Caldwell started fast and never looked back, hitting .800 with 12 kills and no errors in 15 attempts for a 25-9 first-set win. Freshman outside hitter
Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) had four kills in the set, with freshman middle blocker
Taylor Kovach (Oregon, OH/Clay) and sophomore right side
Kelsey Blankerts (Sylvania, OH/Southview) getting three kills apiece. Zaeske added five more kills in a 25-10 victory in the second set. In the third set, the Cougars led 12-3 before Concordia was able to close the gap to 20-15. But Caldwell closed out the win and the sweep, as Blankerts put away the final kill.
Zaeske led the Cougars with 12 kills, while Blankerts and Kovach both posted eight kills and a .636 hitting percentage. Freshman setter
