CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Felician College in three sets, 25-22, 25-18, 25-8 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars are now 11-9 overall and 8-2 in the conference following the win, while the Golden Falcons fall to 4-11, 4-7 CACC.

The first set remained close throughout, with neither team leading by more than three points. A kill by Olivia Emerson gave Felician a 21-20 lead, but two kills from freshman middle blocker Taylor Kovach (Oregon, OH/Clay) and another from freshman outside hitter Taylor Zaeske (S. Milwaukee, WI/S. Milwaukee) helped the Cougars close out the set, 25-22. Junior outside hitter Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica) had eight kills and a .571 hitting percentage in the first set.

Caldwell broke open a tightly contested second set, scoring 10 of the last 15 points for a 25-18 victory. Zaeske delivered eight kills, while junior libero Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) recorded nine digs in the set. Unlike the first two sets, the third set was never in doubt. Caldwell tallied the final seven points, and senior middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) delivered five kills in the 25-8 win.

Zaeske led all players with 16 kills, while Nestoras racked up 15 kills and 13 digs and hit .419 for the match. Freshman setter Rachel Carpenter (Newark, OH/Newark) registered 40 assists and eight digs, and Del Cid finished with 20 digs. Emerson paced the Golden Falcons with eight kills.

Caldwell plays a CACC match at Bloomfield College on Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Bloomfield, N.J.
