Box Score CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's basketball team earned its fourth victory in a row, defeating Nyack College, 77-55 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Wednesday night in the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars improve to 8-11 overall and 6-4 in league play, while the Warriors drop to 0-16, 0-9 CACC.
Caldwell used a 23-8 run, capped by a three-pointer from senior guard
Chelsea Loscalzo (Bayside, NY/St. Agnes), to take a commanding 27-13 lead midway through the first half. The bulge grew to as many as 28 points before Nyack closed out the half with an 8-1 run to make the score 46-25 Cougars at the break. Senior guard
Torey Jones (Providence, RI/LaSalle Acad.) scored 13 points in the first half, as Caldwell shot 56.7 percent from the field.
Seven points from Jones helped the Cougars open the second half with an 11-5 run to expand the lead to 57-30 with 14:12 to play. The Warriors were able to cut the deficit to 17 points after a three from Tori Trador made the score 68-51 Caldwell with 5:07 remaining. But the Cougars wrapped up the win with a 9-4 run to end the game, including a three-pointer from sophomore guard
Morgan Thompson (Neptune, NJ/Neptune). Caldwell held Nyack to 34.5 percent shooting for the game and earned a 44-32 rebounding edge.
Jones led all players with 20 points to go with three assists and three steals. Sophomore forward
Emily Caswell (Wakefield, RI/Prout School) added 10 points and five boards, while senior center
Gillian Felix (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) tallied eight points and a team-best seven boards. Loscalzo hit a pair of threes en route to a career-high eight points in her first start. Courtney Peay led the Warriors with 13 points and seven rebounds.
