PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Caldwell College volleyball team earned a hard-fought victory over the University of the Sciences, winning in five sets in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at Morgan Arena. The Cougars improve to 9-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while the Devils fall to 5-6, 2-1 CACC.
Caldwell lost the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-17 before taking a narrow 26-24 win in the third set. After winning the fourth set 25-15, the Cougars wrapped up the match with a 15-10 win in the fifth set.
Senior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) led Caldwell with 12 kills and 21 digs, while freshman outside hitter Annyssa Herlihy (Springfield, NJ/Union Catholic) tallied 11 kills. Junior setter Lisa Roth (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) dished out 31 assists in the win, and sophomore libero Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) recorded 18 digs. Caitlyn Crawford and Rachel Martin each had 13 kills for USciences.
Caldwell faces Southern Connecticut State in the second match of the tri-match at USciences, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
