BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Three unanswered goals in the second half lifted the Caldwell College women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over 18th-ranked LIU-Post in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon at Robert Blitz Field. The victory is the fourth in a row for the Cougars (4-2) and is the first win over a nationally-ranked team since Caldwell joined the NCAA Division II in 2002.

LIU Post (4-1-1) got off to a quick start, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Hanna Westerling in the fifth minute. Late in the first half, Prudence Rystrom tallied an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute to give the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage. Caldwell managed just two shots in the first half compared to 20 for LIU Post.

In the second half, the tide began to turn when freshman midfielder Sarina Soriano (San Jose, CA/Archbishop Mitty) knocked in a pass from freshman midfielder Remi Piccirillo (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) in the 52nd minute. Six minutes later, senior defender Jackie Crankshaw (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) blasted a free kick from 20 yards out that dipped under the crossbar to tie the score at 2-2. The game remained tied until the 75th minute, when junior forward Julie Crankshaw (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) poked home a loose ball in front of the Pioneers' goal for a 3-2 Caldwell lead.

Senior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, NY/ East Islip) kept LIU Post off the scoreboard in the second half with five of her season-high 12 saves. Nicole Fierro tallied four saves for the Pioneers, who suffered their first loss of the season.

The Cougars play a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Nyack College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. in Nyack, N.Y.
