ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Caldwell College volleyball team began play in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with a loss to Dominican College, 25-18, 25-21, 25-21 at the Hennessy Center Tuesday night. The Cougars drop to 3-5 overall with their third straight loss, while the Lady Chargers improve to 5-5, 2-0 CACC.
Caldwell was led by senior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline), who had seven kills to go with 12 digs. Senior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive), junior right side Kate Blankerts (Sylvania, OH/Southview) and freshman outside hitter Annyssa Herlihy (Springfield, NJ/Union Catholic) each delivered six kills. Defensively, sophomore Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) had 17 digs. Michelle Fiorvanti had 11 kills and Whitney Ranger recorded 36 assists for Dominican, which was the only CACC team to beat Caldwell in 2011.
The Cougars return to action this weekend, when they participate in the LIU Post Invitational, beginning Friday, Sept. 14 in Brookville, N.Y.
