ERIE, Pa. – The Caldwell College volleyball team downed Ohio Dominican University, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21 in its second match at the Gannon University Tournament Friday afternoon at the Hammermill Center. The Cougars, who fell to Wisconsin-Parkside, 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 earlier in the day, are 1-1 on the 2012 season.
Freshman outside hitter Annyssa Herlihy (Springfield, NJ/Union Catholic) led all players with 13 kills, as she was one of three Cougars with 10 or more kills in the match. Senior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) registered 12 kills without an error for a hitting percentage of .429, while senior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) had 10 kills. Sophomore Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica) dished out 22 assists. Defensively, McDonough registered 14 digs, with sophomore Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) adding 12 digs. Lauren Kraemer and Caitlin Kusan paced Ohio Dominican with eight kills apiece.
Against Wisconsin Parkside, Caldwell was led by junior middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) with five kills. Junior setter Lisa Roth (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) had 15 assists, while Del Cid paced the defense with eight digs. Bridget Nickel had a match-high 12 kills for Wisconsin-Parkside.
The Cougars play Davis & Elkins and Gannon at the Gannon Tournament on Saturday.
