CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's basketball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Dominican College, 73-69 Thursday night in the George R. Newman Center. The loss came in the final regular-season home game for the Cougars, who are now 15-10 overall and 12-6 in the conference. The Lady Chargers improve to 12-12 overall, 11-6 CACC.

The game also was the final regular-season home game for seniors Stephanie Cadet (Elmont, NY/Elmont Memorial), Willeen Capehart (Providence, RI/LaSalle Acad.) and Kaitlyn Lambert (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland).

Dominican broke open a close game by closing out the first half with a 16-5 run over the final seven minutes to take a commanding 39-24 lead at halftime. Caldwell shot just 30.8 percent from the field compared to 57.1 percent for the Lady Chargers, who also hit 6-of-12 from three-point range in the first half.

Caldwell picked away at the Dominican lead, using five points apiece from Capehart and junior guard Torey Jones (Providence, RI/LaSalle Acad.) to spark a 10-3 run that made the score 55-52 with 8:13 remaining. The Lady Chargers built the lead back up to seven and led 69-62 with 34 seconds left. Two free throws from sophomore forward Jeanette Anderson (Lynn, MA/Lynn English) and a conventional three-point play by Capehart pulled the Cougars to within 69-67 with 20 seconds on the clock. But Dominican put the game away by hitting its free throws down the stretch.

The loss allows Felician College to clinch the CACC North Division, while the Cougars need a win at Georgian Court University on Saturday, plus a Dominican loss to either Holy Family or Felician, to finish in second place. The top two teams in each division will host their first-round games in the CACC Tournament, which begins on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Capehart finished with a career-high 21 points, topping her previous career best by nine points. Jones and Anderson each contributed 15 points, while Anderson grabbed eight rebounds. Marley Klunk scored 20 points for the Lady Chargers.

Caldwell plays at Georgian Court on Saturday, Feb. 18, beginning at 12:00 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J.
