Caldwell Drops CACC Game at Post in Men's Basketball

Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – The Caldwell College men's basketball team lost to Post University, 72-55 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up Tuesday evening in the Drubner Center. The result gives the Cougars a 3-6 record overall and a 0-2 mark in the CACC. The Eagles improve to 8-1, 4-0 CACC.

Post held the upper hand throughout the first half, leading by as many as 21 points before taking a 41-25 halftime lead. The Eagles made eight three-pointers and shot 51.6 percent overall in the first half. Threes from freshman guard Brian Kenny (Howell, NJ/Jackson Memorial) and sophomore forward Michael Balkovic (Neptune, NJ/St. John Vianney) helped the Cougars pull to within nine points, 52-43 midway through the second half. But Post scored 10 of the next 12 points, including two three-pointers from Stephen Perry, to regain control and lead 62-45 with five minutes to play. A three from freshman guard Dawan Lighty (Paterson, NJ/Kennedy) brought Caldwell as close as 11 points before the Eagles pulled away to remain undefeated in conference play this season.

Balkovic led the Cougars with 11 points, and Lighty finished with a career-best 10 points. Sophomore guard Wyatt Polk (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) added nine points and a team-high seven rebounds. Perry drained seven of Post's 13 three-pointers in the game and ended up with a game-high 27 points.

Caldwell plays at Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, Dec. 8. The CACC contest has been moved to a 12:00 p.m. start in Wilmington, Del.
