Cougars Top Concordia in Volleyball Season Finale

Box Score BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Caldwell College volleyball team concluded the regular season with a four-set victory over Concordia College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Sunday morning in the Meyer Athletic Center. The Cougars improve to 20-13 overall and 13-6 in the conference, while the Clippers end their season at 6-19, 6-13 CACC.

After losing the first set 25-22, Caldwell battled to stay alive in the second set, turning a 16-16 tie into a 25-20 win. In the third set, the Cougars hit .480 and senior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) had six kills en route to a 25-9 victory. Junior right side Kate Blankerts (Sylvania, OH/Southview) delivered five kills in the fourth set for a match-clinching 25-13 win.

McDonough led the Cougars with 14 kills and 11 digs for her 22nd double-double of the season. Freshman outside hitter Rachael DiLeonardo (Cincinnati, OH/Mount Notre Dame) added 11 kills, while Blankerts and junior middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) each had seven kills. Junior setter Lisa Roth (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) tallied 35 assists, while sophomore libero Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) registered 27 digs. Samantha Kurtke had eight kills for Concordia.

Caldwell begins play in the CACC Tournament with a quarterfinal match against Georgian Court University on Tuesday, Nov. 6. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
