Caldwell Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season with Win at Dominican

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Caldwell College women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 5-1 victory over Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Thursday afternoon at the DC Soccer Field. The Cougars finish with their best regular-season (13-4) and conference records (10-2) in the 15-year history of the program. The Chargers end their season at 6-8-1, 5-6-1 CACC.

Sophomore defender Lauren Iuliucci (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea) broke a scoreless tie in the 32nd minute, knocking in a corner kick from junior midfielder Carissa Strye (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) for a 1-0 lead. Fourteen minutes into the second half, junior midfielder Julie Crankshaw (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) tallied her team-leading 10th goal of the season off an assist from freshman Ashley King (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.). Sophomore midfielder Emily Boehler (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Reg.) made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal in the 66th minute, then Strye placed a free kick into the upper left corner of the goal four minutes later for a 4-0 bulge.

Dominican's Elisa Falzarano put the Chargers on the board with a goal in the 81st minute to make the score 4-1. Freshman forward Lisa Rovatsos (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) closed out the scoring with a goal in the 85th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, NY/ East Islip) held Dominican scoreless and made three saves in 72 minutes, while sophomore Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) made one save in 18 minutes. Veronica Iozzi had four saves for the Chargers.

For the sixth year in a row, the Cougars will play in the CACC Tournament, earning the third seed to host sixth-seeded Holy Family University in the first round. The first round games have been moved to Sunday, Oct. 28 due to the impending hurricane. Kick-off is set for 12:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
