Cougar Volleyball Beats Post for Eighth Straight Win

CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College volleyball team earned a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Post University in four sets Wednesday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars, who won by scores of 19-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-15, have won eight in a row to improve to 17-9 overall and 10-2 in the conference. The Eagles fall to 7-11, 6-4 CACC with the loss.

After losing the first set, Caldwell came out strong in the second, rolling to a 25-14 win behind four kills from freshman outside hitter Rachael DiLeonardo (Cincinnati, OH/Mount Notre Dame). The third set was close throughout, with the Cougars clinging to a 21-20 lead. But kills by DiLeonardo, senior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) and junior middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) sparked a 4-1 run en route to a 25-21 victory. In the fourth set, Caldwell hit .440 compared to .100 for Post and cruised to a 25-15 win. DiLeonardo and senior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) each delivered four kills.

The Cougars were led by DiLeonardo with 14 kills and a .393 hitting percentage, and McDonough with 12 kills and 13 digs. Mosher contributed 10 kills, while junior setter Lisa Roth (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) dished out 42 assists. Defensively, sophomore Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) racked up 25 digs, and Bausch finished with five total blocks. Kelli Reynolds had 11 kills for the Eagles.

Caldwell hosts Nyack College on Friday, Oct. 19 in another CACC match. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Newman Center.
