Caldwell Women's Soccer Blanks Felician, 4-0

CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College women's soccer team scored three times in the second half to pull away from Felician College, 4-0 a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Wednesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The win gives the Cougars an 8-1 mark in the conference while improving to 11-3 overall, tying the program record for most wins in a season. The Golden Falcons are now 5-8-1, 3-6-1 CACC.

Freshman midfielder Sarina Soriano (San Jose, CA/Archbishop Mitty) scored the only goal in the first half, finishing from the right side in the 30th minute for a 1-0 lead. Sixteen minutes into the second half, Soriano sent a cross from the right that was headed past Felician goalkeeper Allie Couzo and into the goal by junior midfielder Rebecca Stinger (Atco, NJ/Hammonton). Junior midfielder Julie Crankshaw (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) and sophomore midfielder Nikole Popo (Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) both scored insurance goals in the final nine minutes of the game. It was the team-leading ninth goal of the season for Crankshaw, while Popo netted her first collegiate goal.

Senior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) tallied three saves to earn the shutout, while Couzo had four saves for the Golden Falcons. Caldwell out-shot Felician 24-10 for the game. The Cougars tied the 2004 squad that went 11-8-2 and advanced to the semifinals of the CACC Tournament.

Caldwell hosts Wilmington University in a CACC game on Saturday, Oct. 20, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
