WATERBURY, Conn. – Sophomore forward Jeanette Anderson (Lynn, MA/Lynn English) scored the game-winning basket at the buzzer as the Caldwell College women's basketball team beat Post University, 71-69 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Thursday evening at the Drubner Center. The win gives the Cougars a 12-7 record on the season, including a 9-3 mark in league play. The Eagles fall to 4-13, 2-8 CACC with the loss.
A three-pointer by freshman forward Emily Caswell (Wakefield, RI/Prout School) capped an 11-2 Caldwell run and put the Cougars on top 67-63 with under two minutes to play. With time running down, the Cougars got the ball in to Anderson, who missed her first attempt, grabbed the rebound and put the ball up and in as time expired for the winning basket.

The host Eagles took the lead on a Pugh three-pointer early in the second half and stayed on top through the first 11 minutes. Anderson briefly gave the Cougars a one-point advantage with a layup at the nine-minute mark, but Post regained control to take a 61-56 lead with 5:28 to play. Caldwell responded with an 11-2 spree, getting seven points from Caswell, to put the Cougars on top 67-63. Post retaliated with a pair of threes, setting up Anderson's late heroics.
