WATERBURY, Conn. – The Caldwell College men's basketball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at Post University, 91-64 Thursday evening at the Drubner Center. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 10-9 overall and 5-7 in the conference, while the Eagles improve to 8-11, 6-4 CACC.
Post took over the lead with a three-pointer by Jerry Cummings four minutes into the game and never looked back. Dantay Sanford scored 11 points in the first half as the Eagles built a 41-30 halftime advantage. The lead remained 11 six minutes into the second half before Post reeled off a 14-6 run to make the score 69-50 with just under 10 minutes to play. The Eagles never let the Cougars back in the game, closing out the win with a 12-2 run.
Post shot 56.9 percent from the field, including 12-of-25 from three-point range, and forced 20 Caldwell turnovers while recording 12 steals. The Cougars were led by senior center Peter Diffley (Bellerose, NY/Episcopal), who had nine points and seven rebounds, and senior guard Nikola Otovic (Kraljevo, Serbia), who had nine points and six assists. Freshman guard Kevin Walker (Bayonne, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) added eight points, four assists and three steals. Post's Zach Krischer led all players with 18 points.
Caldwell hosts Philadelphia University in another CACC game on Saturday, Jan. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
