EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Caldwell College volleyball team wrapped up play at the East Stroudsburg Tournament with victories over Chestnut Hill College and Lincoln University Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Cougars (3-0) were the only team to win all three matches at the tournament.
Against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Chestnut Hill, the Cougars dropped the first set, 25-23 despite putting down 19 kills. Caldwell then bounced back by winning the next three sets, 25-11, 25-11 and 25-15 to take the non-conference match. Junior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) paced the Cougars with 17 kills and 26 digs while hitting .368 for the match. Junior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) added 14 kills, while sophomore middle blocker Becca Feczer (Findlay, OH/Findlay), left, had a career-best 12 kills against one error in 23 attempts for a .478 hitting percentage. Senior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) delivered 52 assists, and junior libero Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) had 22 digs.
In the day's second match, Caldwell cruised to a 25-5, 25-12, 25-11 victory over Lincoln, with McDonough and senior Brittany Denter (Detroit, MI/Kingsley) recording 11 kills apiece. McDonough also had seven service aces, while Roth registered 33 assists and freshman Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) had 11 digs.
The Cougars begin CACC play with a home match against Post University on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
