CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's volleyball team returned to its winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Sunday afternoon in the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars, who won by scores of 25-19, 25-18, 19-25, 25-14, improve to 10-1 overall and 7-0 in league play, while the Wildcats drop to 7-5, 4-2 CACC.

The first set was close until the Cougars broke a 10-10 tie with five straight points. The lead grew to as many as six points en route to the 25-19 win. Sophomore middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) led Caldwell with five kills in the set. The second set also remained tight before the Cougars pulled away late for a 25-18 win. Wilmington came back strong in the third set, hitting .412 and getting five kills from Kaitlin Shorter to extend the match with a 25-19 set victory. But the Cougars closed out the match by scoring 10 of 13 points midway through the fourth set to lead 17-9 on their way to the 25-14 win. Caldwell hit .333 in the final set, with Bausch and junior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mt. St. Olive) each tallying four kills.

Junior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) racked up a match-high 16 kills to go with 11 digs to lead the Cougars. Bausch finished with 13 kills, three blocks and a .409 hitting percentage, while Mosher notched 12 kills. Senior outside hitter Brittany Denter (Detroit, MI/Kingsley), right, made it four Cougars in double-digits with 10 kills. Senior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) kept the offense moving with 47 assists, while junior Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) paced the defense with 24 digs. Paige Norvell registered 11 kills and eight digs to lead Wilmington.

Caldwell plays at Concordia College in a CACC match on Tuesday, Sept. 27, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Bronxville, N.Y.
