CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team played Dominican College to a scoreless tie after 110 minutes in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Wednesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The result keeps the Cougars (3-3-1 overall) unbeaten in conference play at 3-0-1, while the Chargers are now 1-4-1 overall, 1-2-1 CACC.
Both teams had multiple scoring chances throughout the game. Dominican's best chance came in the 39th minute, when a shot by Stephanie Falzarano hit the post. Caldwell almost scored right before the end of regulation on an open header in front of the goal by sophomore forward Julie Crankshaw (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.). But her shot went directly to Chargers' goalkeeper Veronica Iozzi, sending the game to overtime.
The Cougars took 19 shots compared to 12 for Dominican, with freshman forward Natalie Migoya (Lincoln Park, NJ/Morris Catholic) taking 11 shots. The two-time CACC Rookie of the Week put three on goal and had several quality scoring chances, but could not find the back of the net.
Junior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (East Islip, NY/Islip Terrace) earned her second shutout of the season with four saves, while Iozzi had six saves for Dominican.
Caldwell hosts Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, Sept. 24 as a part of Homecoming festivities. The game is set to start at 11:00 a.m. at Caldwell Field.
