CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team cruised to a three-set victory over the University of the Sciences, 25-9, 25-14, 25-18 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Sunday afternoon in the George R. Newman Center. With the win, the Cougars improve to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while the Devils fall to 0-9, 0-4 CACC.
Junior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) paced Caldwell with 13 kills and 12 digs for her second double-double in a row. Senior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) and sophomore middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) each tallied eight kills, with Roth hitting a team-best .667. Roth also organized the Cougars' attack, recording 39 assists to help her team hit .313 for the match. Caldwell dominated offensively, putting down 48 kills compared to 18 for USciences.
Defensively, Bausch had five block assists as the Cougars totaled 6.0 blocks as a team. Junior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) had three block assists and Roth added two. Junior libero Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) had 11 digs, while freshman Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) had nine digs.
The Cougars face Post University on Tuesday, Sept. 20 in another CACC match. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
