PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Caldwell College women's soccer team tallied three second-half goals to earn a come-from-behind, 3-2 victory over Holy Family University Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field. The win came in the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game of the season for the Cougars, who improve to 1-2 overall. The Tigers, who defeated Caldwell in the quarterfinals of last year's CACC Tournament, drop to 1-2.
Megan Tole put Holy Family on the scoreboard with a goal in the 26th minute. Amanda Trabosh made it 2-0 Tigers in the 41st minute. Caldwell wasted little time mounting its comeback, as freshman forward Natalie Migoya (Lincoln Park, NJ/Morris Catholic) found the net 61 seconds after halftime for her first collegiate goal. Just two minutes after Migoya's strike, senior forward Giana Scerbo (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park), right, headed home a cross from freshman midfielder Ashlee Paknis (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) to tie the game at 2-2.
With the clock nearing the end of regulation, Migoya scored an unassisted goal in the 87th minute to complete the comeback and give Caldwell its first CACC victory of the season. The Cougars out-shot Holy Family 12-9 in the second half and put eight shots on goal after halftime.
Junior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (East Islip, NY/Islip Terrace) made five saves, including four in the second half during the comeback. Gina Mansi recorded four saves for the Tigers.
Caldwell takes on Bloomfield College in another CACC match on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Start time is 3:00 p.m. at Watsessing Park in Bloomfield, N.J.
