Anderson Leads Caldwell Past Concordia in Women's Hoops, 80-68

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Jeanette Anderson (Lynn, MA/Lynn) tallied 20 points and 13 rebounds to help the Caldwell College women's basketball team beat Concordia College, 80-68 Thursday night in the Meyer Athletic Center. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory gives the Cougars a 4-5 record on the season, including a 3-1 mark in the league. The Clippers drop to 2-8, 1-3 CACC.

Caldwell broke open a close game with a 23-4 run, sparked by 11 points from freshman guard Devin Gold (New Hope, PA/Council Rock North), to take a 35-15 lead with 5:37 left in the first half. The Clippers used nine free throws to close out the half with an 11-4 run that made the score 39-26 Caldwell at the break. The Cougars held Concordia to 5-of-24 shooting from the field in the half while making 48.6 percent of their field goal attempts.

Momentum stayed with Concordia into the second half, as the Clippers cut the deficit to three, 59-56 with just over eight minutes to play. But Caldwell regained control by scoring 14 of the next 16 points to take a commanding 73-58 advantage with 3:18 remaining. The Cougars outrebounded Concordia 47-30 for the game while recording 15 steals to win their third straight game.

Anderson made 8-of-9 from the free throw line en route to her sixth double-double of the season. Eight of her game-high 13 rebounds came on the offensive glass. Gold ended up with a career-high 16 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and three steals, while junior center Gillian Felix (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) tallied 11 points, eight boards, three assists and three steals. Senior guard Stephanie Cadet (Elmont, NY/Elmont Memorial) dished out six assists and swiped four steals in the win. Krystina Agard scored 20 points to lead the Clippers.

The Cougars play at Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, Dec. 10 in another CACC contest. The game starts at 1:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
