NEWARK, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team saw its season come to an end in a 4-0 loss to Holy Family University in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Tuesday afternoon at Rutgers University-Newark's Alumni Field. The loss gives the Cougars a final record of 8-8-2, while the Tigers improve to 11-7 and advance to Thursday's semifinals in Philadelphia, Pa.
Holy Family received all the offense it would need in the fourth minute, when Lindsay Fisher scored from the right side for a 1-0 lead. Then in the 18th minute, Kathryn Helkowski sent a long pass to Dawn Curry, who scored from the left side to make it 2-0. Curry scored again in the 58th minute, while Megan Tole found the net in the 78th minute to complete the scoring.
Junior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (East Islip, NY/Islip Terrace) made four saves in 70 minutes, and freshman goalkeeper Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) finished the game, recording one save in 20 minutes. Gina Mansi notched five saves in goal for the Tigers to preserve the shutout.
The result also eneded the collegiate careers of six Caldwell players: Nikki D'Orsaneo (Bowie, MD/Bowie), Rosalee Edsall (Bellport, Ny/Bellport), Chelsea Hoover (Hagerstown, MD/Smithsburg), Allie Madura (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon), Ruba Sbeah (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) and Giana Scerbo (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park).
