COUGARS SWEEP HOLY FAMILY IN VOLLEYBALL

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College volleyball team ended a three-match losing streak with a 3-0 win at Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest Saturday afternoon at the HFU Campus Center. The win gives the Cougars a 14-4 record on the season, including a 10-1 mark in the CACC. The Tigers suffer their first conference loss of the season and are now 10-1 in the CACC and 13-10 overall.

Caldwell, which had lost to Dowling, Dominican and NYIT in its previous three matches, earned a narrow victory in the first set, 26-24. The second set was also tight, with the Cougars coming out on top 25-23 while hitting .300 (13 kills and one error in 40 attempts). Caldwell took the third set and the match with a 25-15 win, recording nine kills while the Tigers made 10 hitting errors.

Juniors Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) and Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) paced Caldwell with eight kills apiece, with McDonough adding 13 kills and Mosher hitting .364. Sophomore middle blocker Becca Feczer (Findlay, OH/Findlay) had seven kills and no errors (.389), and freshman outside hitter Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica), pictured, tallied seven kills, three aces and 10 digs. Junior libero Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) led the defense with a match-high 26 digs. Rebecca Tett paced Holy Family with eight kills.

Caldwell returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 11 with a CACC match against Nyack College. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
