PHILADELPHIA SHUTS DOWN CALDWELL IN WOMEN'S SOCCER, 3-0

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team lost to Philadelphia University, 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The result drops the Cougars to 4-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the conference, while the Rams (10-1-1) remain unbeaten in CACC play at 9-0.

Philadelphia scored two goals in a four-minute span midway through the first half to take control of the game. Nicole Van Bourgondien found the net in the 19th minute, followed by a goal from Gabrielle Haden in the 23rd minute. Caldwell's best scoring chance came in the 54th minute, when freshman forward Natalie Migoya (Lincoln Park, NJ/Morris Catholic) received a pass from senior forward Giana Scerbo (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park), pictured, in front of the goal. Migoya turned and blasted a shot that was saved by Kelli Kowalewski to keep the Cougars off the scoreboard. Melissa Copeland added an insurance goal in the 76th minute for a 3-0 Philadelphia lead.

Junior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (East Islip, NY/Islip Terrace) recorded five saves in goal for Caldwell, while Kowalewski also made five saves for the Rams. Rebecca Della Peruta also played for Philadelphia and had one save in 13 minutes. Caldwell held a 15-12 advantage in shots for the game.

The Cougars host Nyack College in a CACC contest on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The game begins at 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
