WATERBURY, Conn. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team lost to Post University, 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Wednesday afternoon at Municipal Stadium. The result is the first CACC loss of the season for the Cougars, who are now 4-4-1 overall and 4-1-1 in league play. The Eagles improve to 4-5 overall, 4-3 CACC.
Post struck first just 1:52 into the game, as Renel Dennis scored for a 1-0 lead. In the 10th minute, the Cougars pulled even on a goal by freshman midfielder Ashlee Paknis (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) off an assist from sophomore Carissa Strye (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth). Paknis' left-footed shot went into the right corner of the goal for her first tally as a collegian. Dennis put the Eagles back on top with her second goal of the game in the 26th minute. Early in the second half, Post found the net again on a goal by Elin Nyman for a 3-1 lead.
Caldwell out-shot Post 14-6 for the game, with sophomore Julie Crankshaw (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) hitting the post in the 30th minute and freshman Natalie Migoya (Lincoln Park, NJ/Morris Catholic) hitting the crossbar in the 54th minute.
Junior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (East Islip, NY/Islip Terrace) recorded three saves in goal for Caldwell, while Grace McConnell was credited with four saves for Post.
Caldwell's game with Philadelphia University on Saturday, Oct. 8 begins a stretch of five straight home contests for the Cougars. The CACC game begins at 12:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
