CALDWELL VOLLEYBALL UPENDED BY DOMINICAN FOR FIRST CACC LOSS

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Caldwell College volleyball team suffered its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss of the season, falling to Dominican College in four sets Tuesday evening in the Hennessy Center. The Cougars, who had won 16 consecutive conference matches dating back to last season, are now 13-3 overall and 9-1 in the CACC. The Lady Chargers improve to 10-9, 6-2 CACC.

Caldwell took the first set 25-17 after putting down 18 kills and hitting .378. Junior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) recorded eight kills in nine attempts (.889) to lead the Cougars. After Dominican took the second set 25-19, the two teams battled in the third set. The Lady Chargers broke a 21-21 tie with two straight points en route to a 25-23 win and a 2-1 lead in the match. The Cougars were unable to hold off Dominican in the fourth set, as the hosts tallied 16 kills to win 25-20.

Mosher matched her career high with 19 kills to lead all players, committing just two errors for a .459 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) added 12 kills and a match-high 26 digs for her 11th double-double of the season. Senior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay), pictured, recorded 44 assists and 10 digs in the loss. Michelle Fiorvanti led Dominican with 15 kills and 18 digs.

Next up for Caldwell is a non-conference home match against NYIT on Friday, Oct. 7. The first serve is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
