NYACK, N.Y. - The Caldwell College volleyball team won its seventh consecutive match, defeating Nyack College in three sets in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest Tuesday night at Bowman Gym. The Cougars, who have already clinched first place in the CACC North Division, improve to 20-4 overall and 15-1 CACC. The Warriors drop to 11-13, 10-7 CACC.
Caldwell took the first set 25-17, with 14 kills against just two errors as a team. Junior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) led the Cougars to a 25-18 victory in the second set with eight kills and a .412 hitting percentage. In the third set, McDonough and senior Brittany Denter (Detroit, MI/Kingsley) each had three kills as the Cougars cruised to a 25-16 win and the sweep. Caldwell hit .248 for the match compared to .016 for Nyack, and held a 40-27 advantage in kills.
McDonough finished with 15 kills and 19 digs while hitting .371 to lead Caldwell. Junior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) added seven kills, and senior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) had 27 assists. Defensively, freshman Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) tallied 17 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity), pictured, had four blocks. Amy Dorvick led Nyack with seven kills.
Caldwell plays its final regular-season home game on Thursday, Oct. 27 against Concordia College. The CACC match starts at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
